Stop pushing the buttons, and say it.
Alex: Can I play with you, Mommy?
Alex: Daddy, Mommy was gonna wake up me.
Alex: Can you put my friends back?
Alex: We're gonna do doctor and then Grandma.
Alex: I gonna have my water in the car and my snack in the car. She has Goldfish.
Alex: Can I turn this off?
Alex: That - that's not Mommy’s car.
Alex (pointing): That's Mommy’s car.
Alex (pointing): That's Daddy’s car.
(Grandma and Grandpa visit.)
Alex: I wanna play trains.
Alex: Where - where's Grandpa went?
Alex: I wanna play animals.
Daddy: Okay, let's play animals.
Alex: With Grandma.
Alex (to Daddy): Can you ask Grandma will you play animals with me?
Alex: Where's Grandma going, Mommy?
Mommy: What?
Alex: Where's they going?
Alex (to Grandpa): Do you wanna play with cars?
Alex: And people?
Alex (to Grandpa): I have a police car.
Alex: Can I go with Grandma and Grandpa?
Alex: Where's Grandma going?
Daddy: Well they had to leave.
Alex: Where are they going?
Daddy: Well they're gonna go back to their house soon.
Alex: And where are they gonna go?
Alex: Do it!
Mommy: Do what?
Alex: Do your shirt over my head.
Daddy: You know, Grandpa had fun playing with you.
Alex: Grandpa wants to come back to my house.
Alex: Grandpa has lots of toys. He has cars, and trucks! He has a red truck.
Daddy: A red truck?
Alex: He has a house. He has babies.
Daddy: He has what?
Alex: He has mommies and Daddy and Alex and Claire.
Daddy: Can you wash the back of your hand? Can you wash right there?
Alex: Meg said. Meg said that to me.
(dinner time)
(Alex drinks some water and has a coughing fit.)
Daddy: Did it go down the wrong way?
Alex: My mouth went the other way.
Alex: I want some cold water cause the hot water made me cough. (mumble) gave me a runny nose and I don't want some water. I wanna leave this water on my tray. I went to the doctor, daddy.
Alex: Now it's feeling better, Daddy.
Daddy: It's feeling better? Good.
Alex: Yeah it went the right way.
Alex: Get it by your plate, Daddy.
(Daddy wipes off Alex’s face.)
Alex: These are dirty too. This hand, and this hand. Can I get a napkin?
Alex: I have coffee, Daddy.
Daddy: Coffee?
Alex: Yeah. I have some coffee.
Alex: (in a very scary voice, jaw jutting forward): I want some more grapes please. May I have some more grapes please?
Daddy: What do you want?
Alex (same scary voice): May I have some more grapes please?
Alex: Can you say where to me?
Daddy: What?
Alex: Can you say where are your hands?
Daddy: Where are your hands?
(Alex shows Daddy his hands.)
Alex: You can say “roar”, and you can say “roar”, and you can say “roar” to Claire and “roar” to Mommy. ‘Kay? Do that.
Daddy: Why doesn’t Alex say “roar”?
Alex: You say “roar”.
Daddy: You want me to say “roar”?
Alex: Yeah.
Alex: Say “roar” to me, and say “roar” to Claire, and say “roar” to Mommy, okay?
Alex: Okay Daddy?
Daddy: Okay.
(Daddy pauses while he types up this conversation.)
Alex: Stop pushing the buttons, and say it.
(Daddy roars to Alex, Claire, and Mommy.)
Claire: Roar.
Alex: Can I say “roar” to Mommy, and say “roar” to Daddy, and say “roar” to Claire, and say “roar” to Grommie?
Daddy: Yeah.
Alex: I gonna get down and say “roar” to Grommie, “roar” to Claire, “roar” to Mommy.
Daddy: Okay.
Alex (to Grommie): Roar Grommie.
Alex (to Claire): Roar Claire.
Alex (to Mommy): Roar Mommy.
Alex: I wanna play with that, Mommy.
Daddy: Just because Claire touched it?
Alex: Yeah.
Alex: We just washed hands in the other bathroom and then we're not gonna wash hands in this bathroom.
Alex: Let's sleep on this pillow.
Alex: Sleep with Bobo and I will sleep with Elly. Sleep with me Daddy?
Daddy: Yes.
Alex: Let's close our feet.
Daddy: Okay.
Alex: I think it’s gone. I can't hear it ‘cause it’s gone. It can't come in my house, and the other house. And I can't go in their house.
Daddy: Do you want your nose squirted?
Alex: Yes, I don't want my nose squirted. Said no, ‘cause I said yes.
Dog: Can I ride?
Cat: No you can't ride ‘cause you have to stay here and eat lunch.
