Sh. Alex.

(Mommy is wearing Daddy’s shirt.)
Alex: That’s Daddy's shirt. That’s not your shirt.

Alex: Can you carry me downstairs?
Daddy: You want me to carry you?
Alex: No thank you. Can you carry Claire?
Daddy: Okay.
Alex: Daddies don't carry boys. Daddies carry babies to go downstairs.

Alex: Nana will come in, Claire, do you wanna see her? And she will pick you up?

Alex: I'm gonna sit on the couch and wait for Nana, okay?

(Alex thinks he hears Daddy coming home from work.)
Alex (running to the door): Daddy Daddy Daddy!
Claire (walking after him): Dada Dada Dada Dada!

Daddy: Alex, what do cowboys wear?
Alex: Boots.
Daddy: Oh yeah? And what else?
Alex: Cowboy hats.

Alex: I got water myself.
Daddy: You did what?
Alex: I got water and I did it and I pushed the thing and then water came in my cup.

(dinner time)

Mommy: No banging, Claire.
Alex: No banging, Claire. I said to you, no banging.

Alex: I have too much in my mouth, Daddy.
Daddy: What?
Alex: I have too much in my mouth.
Daddy: Oh, well maybe you should chew it up. Or you could drink some water; that might help.
Alex: I will chew it up.
Alex: There, I just chewed it up.
Daddy: Oh okay.

(Claire babbles.)
Alex: No, stop it.
(Claire babbles.)
Alex: Stop it.
(Claire babbles.)
Alex: Stop it, you’re hurting my ears.
(Claire babbles.)
Alex: Stop it, that hurts my ears, Claire.
(Claire babbles.)
Alex: No stop it, that hurts my ears.

Daddy: What did you do today, Alex?
Alex: Um play with Nana.
Daddy: Oh fun! What else did you do?
Alex: Nana went home and then I went to school.
Daddy: What did you do at school?
Alex: Um I don’t know what I did.
Daddy: What did you do after school?
Alex: Come home.

Alex: I wanna do water play.

Alex: Daddy, chicken nuggets go outside (mumble) (mumble) (mumble), okay? And (mumble) my car!

Daddy: Alex, I understood that chicken nuggets go outside. But what happens after that? What do the chicken nuggets do after they go outside?
Alex: We bring them inside.
Daddy: We bring them inside?
Alex: Yeah and we eat them.

Claire: Ahhh doh dee dah dah!

Claire: Tss.
Daddy: Tss.
Claire: Tss. Tss.

Alex: You – you’re big and I’m little. You – you’re big and I’m little. You’re little and I’m big. I wanna do bed. I wanna do bed.
Daddy: You wanna do bed?
Alex: No cah-koo.
(Alex flops over.)

Claire (looking at Alex’s shoe): Sh. Sh.
Mommy: Alex’s shoe, can you say “shoe”?
Claire: Sh. Alex.

(Alex gives Daddy a pretend cake.)
Daddy: Ah! This is for me?
Alex: Yes, it’s for you.
Daddy: Thank you! Do you want some too?
Alex: Yes I do.
Daddy: Here's a piece.
Alex: Thank you.

Alex: That's what Thomas did.
Daddy: What?
Alex: He did that at school yesterday.
Daddy: What did Thomas do?
Alex: He said something.
Daddy: What did he say?
Alex: I don't know what he said.

Alex: Isabelle is for Max and I’m for Kylie.
Daddy: You're for crying?
Alex: I'm for Kylie and Isabelle is for Max and I'm for Kylie.

Daddy: Alex, do you have a girlfriend?
Alex: No.
Daddy: Do you want one?
Alex: No.

Daddy: Is Max your friend?
Alex: He’s Isabelle’s friend.
