Green stop, red go.


(waking up)
Alex: I wanna sleep some more and I will wake up and then I will go downstairs and eat breakfast. My diaper’s okay.


(Spongebob Squarepants appears briefly on TV.)
Alex: I wanna watch cheese.


(coloring in the playroom)

Alex: Look Daddy! Another long - a long, long snake.

Alex: That's a C.
Mommy: Yeah!
Alex: A cookie for C.

Alex: Cookie can't get it ‘cause he's scared.

Alex: There's a W.
Mommy: Yeah, good job! What's that?
Alex: Um, a snake.
Alex: There's a circle.
Mommy: Good job, can you do a triangle?
Alex: I can't do a triangle.
Mommy: You can't? Can you do this? Triangle. You try.

Alex: Up down right.
Mommy: You did it! You did it! You did it!
Daddy: That's a triangle!

Alex: Claire can't make a triangle.

Alex: There's a B.
Mommy and Daddy: Yeah.
Alex: There's a circle.


(Alex rolls his foot on the Play-Doh can.)
Alex: Making my foot feel better.

Alex: I roll my foot.
Mommy: What?
Alex: I'm making my foot feel better, Mommy.
Mommy: Does it feel good?
Alex: Yes, I'm rolling it.


Daddy: Alexander Thomas.
Alex: I'm not Thomas.
Daddy: Alexander Thomas.
Alex: No! I'm not Thomas.
Daddy: Who are you?
Alex: I'm Alex. I not Thomas.


Alex: There's the tower, Elmo. See it? It’s really tall.
Baby doll (in scary voice): I'm gonna knock it down.
(Baby doll knocks down the tower.)


Alex: That's a bird.
Daddy: A bird? Oh yeah, a pretty little yellow bird.
Alex: That's a green bird. Oh! He flew away to get some food.

(nap time)
Alex: Claire’s crying ‘cause I was crying.


Alex: We’re not gonna see the animals ‘cause the animals is closed today. ‘Cause we have to go to the beach.


(preparing to leave for Maymont)
Alex: You're not going, Grommie.
Mommy: I'm sorry Grommie, you can't go.
Alex: You can't go, Grommie. I'm sorry. I’m sorry. It’s too hot for you. You have to stay in the house.

Alex: And Mommy closed the door ‘cause she's gonna close my door ‘cause I can't close my door.


(in the car)

Alex: Can I go to Nana and Pop’s house, Mommy?
Mommy: No, we’re not going to Nana and Pop’s house, honey. We’re going somewhere else.
Alex: I wanna go to Nana and Pop’s house.

Alex: That's a blue bus. It’s white and it’s… purple. There's a telephone truck by the bus.
Mommy: That's right.
Mommy (to Daddy): How does he know that's a telephone truck?

Alex: I can't find the animals.
Daddy: What?
Alex: I'm looking for the animals. They're very far away.

Claire: Whoa. Whoa. Wow. Wow. Whoa.

Alex: We passed the telephone truck.
Daddy: We sure did.
Alex: It’s not going to the animals. The telephone truck doesn’t go to the animals.

Alex: Mommy, you’re not Claire.

Alex: You see that big tower, Daddy?
Mommy: I saw that big tower.
Daddy: That is big.

Alex: There's green.
Mommy: That’s right, what does green mean?
Alex: Green stop, red go.
Mommy: Close!

Alex: It turned green, and there's yellow too.
Mommy: And what does green mean?
Alex: Stop.
Mommy: Green means go. Go go go.
Alex: Go go go.
Alex: There's more green. There's another green.
Mommy: There's a red light. What does that mean?
Alex: Stop.
Mommy: That's right! Stop!

Alex: Bumpy.

Alex: Maybe they're sleeping. Maybe they're in the barn. Maybe they’re in the barn. Maybe they’re in the barn.

Alex: Oh I see a white house. I see a white house, Mommy.
Mommy: That’s the carillon.
Alex: It’s a white house.

Alex: I see trashcans over there. And I see a gate.
Mommy: Yeah.
Daddy: I see a car.
Alex: I see a red car over there. See that red car?
Mommy: Yeah.
Alex: It’s really red.
Alex: And I see a orange one and a blue one and more red ones. And another blue one and a green one.


Alex: Grommie’s downstairs, shaking.


(playing House)

Alex: I think that's Ernie on the telephone.

Alex: Who's that on the phone?
Alex: Hello Mommy. (mumble) See you later.

Alex: Hello Ernie. Ernie on the telephone again ‘cause it’s...
(Alex trails off.)
Daddy: What's Ernie saying?
Alex: Nothing.

Monkey: What are you doing now, lion?
Lion: I'm washing hands... and put PJs on and go to bed.
Monkey: Oh. What about me, lion, can I go to sleep?
Monkey: No, you have to eat, ‘cause you're hungry.


(song time)
Alex: Say all the people.
