Is there no Christmas now?
(Alex crashes his car into a table, causing the little Christmas tree on the table to fall over.)
Daddy: Oh no, the tree fell down!
(For a few moments, Alex just stares silently at the fallen tree.)
Alex: Is there no Christmas now?
Alex: Oh, I have a bad cough. I need to do mask.
Alex: I have a bad cough. I need to do mask, Daddy.
(Alex coughs.)
Alex: I need to do mask. I have, um, a cough.
(Alex and Claire run around crazy for a while.)
Alex: I need to do mask. I have a bad cough. Pleeease?
(dinner time)
Daddy: Who did you see on the playground?
Alex: I saw Everett, and I saw a lot of people when I went too fast.
Daddy: You went too fast?
Alex: Yeah, there was a lot of kids and girls, and then I found Everett, and Everett went for a run with me.
Alex (indicating the poinsettia): Are those leaves - the leaves are not gross?
Daddy: No, they're not gross.
(Alex’s fork is bouncing on Alex’s water cup.)
Alex’s fork: Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi.
(Claire’s fork begins to bounce on Claire’s water cup.)
Claire’s fork: Hi.
Claire: Ah back.
Alex: Claire always gets things for me, she always gets things on me, ... , she always gets toys but water is for boys.
