He has a toaster on his face.
Alex: What else did Charlie Brown do on the show?
Daddy: He walked in the snow.
Alex: It snowed before Christmas.
Daddy: Mm-hm.
Alex: After that it’s not Christmas anymore.
Daddy: It’s not?
(Alex shakes his head.)
(Alex is watching A Charlie Brown Christmas, and Daddy is singing along.)
Alex: Don’t sing it, Daddy.
Alex: May you get the food what Nana gave me?
Alex: May you um - put all the food on the picnic table?
(After timeout, Alex must tell Mommy he’s sorry.)
Alex (through tears, barely understandable): Sorry.
Alex (after crying on and off for a half hour or so): I'm happy.
Alex: I don't like Santa. Santa scares me.
(Claire is bringing Little People toys to Alex.)
Alex: I need a mommy, Claire. Not two babies.
(Alex puts a sticker in his A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving book, with Mommy’s help.)
Alex: Daddy, look at Charlie Brown.
Daddy: What happened to Charlie Brown?
Alex: He has a toaster on his face.
(bed time)
Alex (to Mommy): Next time talk about the story and what happens with the toaster on Charlie Brown’s face.
(Daddy and Alex talk about what they will do for Daddy’s birthday.)
Alex: And then you will cry because your birthday is over?
