Daddy (to Alex): Are you a child?
(Alex shakes his head no.)
Daddy: Are you children?
(Alex shakes his head no.)
Daddy: Are you a kid?
(Alex smiles and nods.)


(Daddy has a hamburger.)
Alex: I wish that I could eat that sandwich. A little bit of bread.


Alex: Is that a CD? Or a DVD?
Mommy: This?
Alex: Yeah.
Mommy: This is plant tape.
Alex: Oh.
Claire: Eat it.
Mommy: No, we don't eat it.


Alex: Daddy, you wanna play with me?


Alex: What do you wanna do with me, Daddy, that's fun?


(Alex is riding in the car with Daddy.)

Alex: I think you're going too fast. I like it when you go too fast. It’s fun.
Daddy: Okay.
Alex: One day I told you not to go fast. But now I like it.

Alex: Someone colored on this road!
Daddy: Yeah? What color did they use?
Alex: Black!

Alex: Why is there just trash in your car?

(Daddy passes Alex’s school.)
Alex: My old friends are on the playground!
Daddy: Oh! Who are your old friends?
Alex: I don’t know, it’s a lotta names.
Daddy: Oh.
Alex: I don't know a lotta names, I don’t know Tyler. That's a hard word for me.


Alex: Mommy?
Mommy: Yeah?
Alex: On the way home from the barber shop, I saw my old friends out!


(Claire, and Daddy are going upstairs.)
Daddy: I'm gonna get there first!
Claire: Uh first!
Daddy: I’m gonna get there first!
Alex (from the top of the stairs): I already got there first.

Claire: Uh second.


(Claire is reading a Pooh book.)
Claire: No go in there.

Claire: I read it, the book.

(Claire reads “Five Little Monkeys Sitting in a Tree”, which no one has ever read to her.)
