S starts with Science Kid.

Alex: S starts with Science Kid.

Alex: C starts with coffee.

(Alex and Claire are playing with the toy kitchen.)

(Alex knocks over a box of toys.)
Alex: Can you clean up this mess, Claire?

Alex: Daddy, I got you a special donut. It has cake in it too.
Daddy: Oh, thank you.

Alex (taking a toy croissant from Daddy): I'm pretending this is yucky, and has peanuts in it.

Alex: This is yucky, Claire, it has peanuts in it, yuck!
Claire: Yuck!

(Alex is talking on the toy phone.)
Alex: Um yeah.
Alex: Yes.
Alex: What is it, Mommy?
Alex: What is it?
Alex: Okay.
Alex: Stephanie?
Alex: Stephanie.
Alex: What is it?
Alex: Grampa?
Alex: Grampa’s there.
Alex: Oh.
Alex: Okay.
Alex: Sorry.
Alex: Bye.

(Claire is still playing with the toy kitchen.)
Claire: Cook. Dinner. Cook.

(Alex and Claire are playing with Play-Doh.)

Daddy: What’d you make Claire?
Claire: Apple.
Daddy: Apple!
Claire: Uh mine!
(Pause.)
Alex: I made a pancake. For Daddy. Here you go.
Daddy: Thank you for my pancake, Alex.
Alex: You’re welcome.
Alex: Wanna pretend you’re eating it?
Daddy: Yes, please.
Alex: ‘Kay. Here you go. You pretend you’re eating it.
(Daddy pretends he’s eating it.)
Daddy: Mmm, it’s good.

(Alex makes a Play-Doh “birthday pancake” for Claire.)
Alex (singing): Happy birthday to Claire
Alex (singing): Happy birthday to Claire
Alex (singing): Happy birthday to Claire
Alex (singing): Happy birthday to Claire
Alex: Happy birthday, Claire! Blow out the candles. Say hah hah.
(Claire pretends to blow out the candles.)
Alex: Harder!
Alex: No, blow on that – really hard.
(Claire pretends to blow out the candles again.)
Alex: There we go! Can you eat it?

(Daddy’s computer is acting up. Alex decides to shout down the stairs to tell Mommy about it.)
Alex: Mommy, Daddy’s computer ma – makes a noise and then it stops again. That’s what it does, Mommy. That’s what it does, Mommy. Mommy? You hear me? Do you hear me?
Claire: Mommy!
Alex: Mommy, do you hear me?

Alex: Daddy, we couldn’t go out in the snow, because it’s too cold, and too wet, and too yucky. That’s what Mommy said.

(dinner time)

Alex: I like pasta.
Mommy: I know.
Alex: Pasta’s my favorite.
(Pause.)
Alex: And so are waffles.

Alex: I made a tower at school, and I made some stairs for Alex, and I made a bed for Elly too, and then when it was time for breakfast, I would walk down all the stairs I made. That’s what I made for Elly. Then, when it was nap time again, Elly flew into the cave. And she went to bed and then I got her, and she went to bed! That’s what she did.

Alex: That was Elly’s new toy to play with. From Santa. I was pretending to be Santa. That’s what I was doing.
Daddy: Oh.
Alex: And then Ian stepped over my stair, and I told him to get up and get off, and he got off when he went on it one time.
Daddy: Yeah?
Alex: And then I told him to get off and he didn’t get off.
Daddy: He didn’t?
Alex: Um – he didn’t, and then I told him to get off and he did. He did do that.

Alex: And then my – Miss Woody told me to share. And I did share a little bit!
Daddy: Oh good! What does “a little bit” mean? Did you not share a lot?
Alex: But I shared a little bit.
Daddy: Well sharing is nice, good for you.
Alex: Thank you Daddy.

Alex: P starts with plate!
Daddy: That’s right.
