Alex did, all by himself.

Claire: Daddy, don’t look at my shirt.
Daddy: Okay.
Claire: It’s a surprise.

(Claire is sad that Mommy’s taking down the Christmas decorations.)
Mommy: You know what else is coming up that’s even better?
Claire: Easter!
Mommy: Yeah, and Disney World.
Claire: Yay!
Alex: Disney, and Easter!
Alex: And Valentine’s Day.
Claire: Yeah.
Alex: And that green day.

(Claire and Alex are playing.)
Claire: I see a bad guy!
Alex: Where?
Claire: Behind you!
(Alex looks around and sees Mommy.)
Claire: That’s just Mommy.
Claire (pointing to an empty space): Right there! He’s just for pretend, Alex.

Alex (sadly): Mommy, every day, when Claire plays with me, it’s her birthday.

Claire (to Mommy, sadly): I want it to be Christmas again.

(Mommy makes cheeseburgers for lunch.)

Claire: I – I wanna try a cheeseburger.

Claire (giggling): Mommy, can we go to the store and get a cheeseburger? Then I wanna have it for dinner.

(Alex spontaneously cleans the play room.)
Alex: Daddy! I cleaned up the play room, all by myself!

(Alex proceeds to clean the train room, then his own room.)

Alex (singing, while cleaning his room): Cleaning my room, cleaning my room…

Alex: I feel proud of myself.

(Alex is cleaning the family room.)
Alex: There’s a lot of toys to put away. But I’m not gonna ask for help. Because I want to do it all by myself.

Alex: Daddy, can you write that on your computer?
Daddy: Okay.
Alex: Alex did, all by himself.

(Alex finishes cleaning the family room.)
Alex: Mommy and Daddy don’t have to do any work, so they can just read!

(Alex found more stuff to clean.)
Alex: Look Daddy!
(Daddy looks.)
Alex: It’s getting clean!

Alex: Daddy? Our relaxing place is done!

Claire (helping to clean, a little bit): Super-clean!

Alex: The Super Cleaners made… a clean house!

Alex (relaxing): A good, relaxing place.

Alex: Daddy, come see what I did in the family room.
Claire: Come see what I did in the train room!

Daddy: I love our clean house!

Alex: Uh, Daddy? I think I see another job for Super Cleaners.
Daddy: What’s that?
Alex: Right here – the counter!

Claire: I know what’s so messy. The little table!
Daddy: Oh, you’re right, the little table needs to be cleaned up!
Alex: Super Cleaners to the rescue!

(Daddy is helping a little bit with the cleaning.)
Alex: But, you don’t have to do it, Daddy.
Daddy: Okay.
Alex: We’re Super Cleaners. So you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do.
Daddy: Okay.
Alex: Just leave it to us!

Claire: Daddy, watch me run so fast to the other side!
Daddy: Okay.
(Claire runs from the kitchen to the other side of the family room.)
Daddy: Wow, that was fast!

Claire: Mommy, watch me go, so far all around the house!
(Claire starts running.)
Mommy: Wow, you’re fast!
Claire (whining): But, I didn’t – I didn’t go around the house!

Alex: Uh, where’s the light on the garage? I’m taking out the recycling for you.

(Alex is finally done cleaning, after nearly an hour.)
Alex: Maybe, tomorrow? I’m not gonna make a big mess.

Mommy: All right. I’m gonna make some dinner.
Alex: I can help. Anything you don’t want to do, we can help.
Mommy: Oh that’s nice, buddy.
Claire (with one fist raised above her head): We, are, super heroes!

(Daddy's computer is playing “You Are My Sunshine”.)
Alex: Daddy? I’m like that.
Daddy: Yeah?
Alex: You like me, because I’m helping out right now. And it’s dark out, so the skies are grey right now.
Daddy: Oh!
Elizabeth Mitchell (singing): You make me happy, when skies are gray
Alex: See?

(Alex and Claire are helping Daddy to fold laundry.)
Alex: I should tell my teachers about this.
Daddy: Yeah.
Alex: Because they said, maybe you can do something to help out your mommy and daddy.

(after dinner)
Alex: Daddy! You don’t want to clean up the table?
Daddy: I don’t want to clean up the table, I wish I didn’t have to.
Alex: Well, I can help you! And so can Claire!

Claire: Daddy, next time when we go to school, when we have circle time, I can raise my hand, and I can say, I helped Daddy, and Ma – and Ma – and Mommy.

Claire: I’m proud of myself!
Alex: Me too! We, are taking care of our house all by ourselves!
Claire: Yeah! So, you remember that let’s do it next time, okay?
Alex: Okay.

(Alex and Claire wipe down the kitchen table.)

Alex: Mommy! Mommy! Come see the clean table!

Claire: Come and see the clean table! It’s really clean! We wiped it too!

Claire (to Mommy): When I was a baby, I used to go to sleep on Daddy’s shoulder.
Mommy: Yeah.
Alex: I did it lots of times.
