Uh Daddy come home.

(Daddy phones home from St. Louis.)
Alex: Daddy, hi!
Daddy: Hi Alex, how are you?
Claire: Hi!
Daddy: Hi Claire, how are you?
Claire: Uh home.
Daddy: You’re home?
Claire: Uh in my room.
Daddy: You’re in your room?
Mommy: No. What did you say to him?
Claire: Play, Daddy.
Daddy: Play? You --
Alex: Daddy? Hi Daddy!
Daddy: Hi Alex!
(Pause.)
Daddy: What are you guys doing?
Alex: I’m tryin’ to wait ‘til Mommy makes my dinner.
Daddy: Oh, that sounds like fun.
Claire: (mumble) make my dinner.
Daddy: What did you say, Claire?
Claire: Uh wait uh Mommy make my dinner.
Daddy: You’re waiting for Mommy to make your dinner?
Alex: Daddy? Daddy?
Daddy: Yes?
Alex: Are you gonna be home on Friday?
Daddy: Yes I am.
(Pause.)
Daddy: Are you excited?
Alex: Yeah.
Daddy: I’m excited to see you!
Alex: Did you fly on a airplane?
Daddy: Yes I did. Isn’t that neat?
Alex: Yeah. Neer flied on a airplane.
Daddy: I – yeah, Neer and Daddy both flew on airplanes.
Alex: One day Mommy’s gonna fly on a plane.
Daddy: Yeah. Is that we she told you?
Alex: Yeah. Um… some other day, sometime, Mommy will take me on a plane. And maybe you, Daddy.
Daddy: Yeah, I’ll take you on a plane sometime. And maybe Mommy and Claire can come too.
Alex: ‘Kay. Grommie is not gonna come. Grommie’s a dog.
Daddy: Yeah, so he’s not gonna go on the plane.
Alex: Daddy?
Daddy: Yes, Alex.
Alex: I went to Nana’s house.
Daddy: That sounds like fun.
Alex: I’m under the table Daddy. You can’t see my eyes.
Alex: Where are you? I can’t see you. I can’t see you, Daddy. Are you on the phone?
Daddy: I’m on the phone.
Alex: Oh.
Daddy: Where are you?
Alex: I’m at home already. I’m at home.
Daddy: Oh.
Alex: Claire’s playing shopping carts.
Daddy: Do you think she wa—
Alex: Bye, Daddy.
Alex (to Mommy, in the background): I wanna – I wanna say bye to Daddy, Mommy.

Daddy: Hi Claire!
Claire: (Mumble) pear (mumble) nuggets.
Daddy: Hi Claire!
Mommy: She’s telling you what she had for dinner. Tell him again, Claire.
Claire: Uh nuggets.
Mommy: Pear. What else?
Claire: Carrots.

Claire: Uh Daddy come home. Uh Daddy come home.

Mommy: You tell Daddy what you’re eating.
Claire: A carrot.
Daddy: A carrot, yummy.

Claire: Uh honey mustard on plate.
Mommy: What?
Claire: Uh honey mustard on plate. Honey mustard on plate.
Mommy: Honey mustard on plate?
Claire: Yeah.
Mommy: Oh, that’s interesting.
Claire: Uh honey mustard on plate.
Mommy: Oh. Perhaps you could use one of these.
Claire: Mommy? Uh nuggets.

Claire: Daddy home.
Mommy: Daddy will be home Friday.

Mommy: Okay, let’s sing Daddy a song, and then we’ll say bye-bye, okay?
(Alex and Claire sing Twinkle, Twinkle in semi-unison, with Claire getting about half of the words. Also, Alex says “diamond”, not “triangle”.)
Mommy, Alex, and Claire: Yayyy!
Claire: Uh sing Lullaby.
Mommy: You wanna sing Lullaby?
Claire: Lullaby Claire.
Mommy: You want Daddy to sing Lullaby to you?
Daddy: Okay.
Mommy: Can you sing? Are you around other people?
Daddy: No, I’m fine, I can sing.
(Daddy sings Lullaby to Alex and Claire.)
Claire: Uh sing Twinkle Little Star.
Mommy: What?
Claire: Uh sing Twinkle Little Star.
Daddy: You want me to sing Twinkle, Twinkle? Okay.
(Daddy sings Twinkle, Twinkle.)
Mommy, Alex, and Claire: Yayyy!
Claire: Uh sing, doggie song.
Daddy: You want me to sing the doggie song? Okay, last one, okay?
Daddy: Okay?
Mommy: She’s saying okay.
Daddy: Okay.
(Daddy sings Doggie in the Window.)
Mommy, Alex, and Claire: Yayyy!

(Claire sings Lullaby.)
Claire: Lullaby Claire
Claire: Lullaby Claire
Claire: Ay-yah, Grommie, Claire, Juju, Mallory
Claire: Yay!
