(watching Bob)
Alex: That’s silly. Parrots don’t talk. They’re birds.
(playing trains)
Alex: “Heeeeelp!”
Alex: Said someone.
Alex: Someone’s stuck, Mommy.
Alex: “Heeeeelp!”
Alex: Someone’s stuck, Mommy.
Mommy: Someone’s stuck?
Alex: “Heeeeelp!”
Alex: Daisy gonna help.
(Claire sees Daddy’s desktop background: a picture of Alex with a big grin on his face.)
Claire: Ay-yah. Cheeese!
(lunch time)
Alex: Look at that part of the tree, it looks like a dragon – and I saw all those birds fly!
Alex: I heard the water running and now it stopped.
Alex: And then it’s gonna come outside, under the pipes! And then it’s gonna go into the potty, right?
Daddy: You ready to get down, buddy?
(Pause.)
Alex: Yeah, sure.
(riding in the car, passing the fire station)
Claire: Fire engines!
Daddy: Yeah, fire engines!
(Claire beams with pride.)
(in bed)
Daddy: Okay, night-night buddy.
Alex: If you would sled down the hill, in the snow, and go up in the air, would your sled get stuck?
Daddy: Um, yeah it would.
Alex: In the pile?
Daddy: Yeah.
Alex: Okay then you have to be careful.
