That's all it didn't have.

Daddy: Hey Claire, tell Mommy what we did.
Claire (smiling): Nothing. Nothing.
Daddy: What?
Claire (smiling): Nothing.
Daddy: Nothing?
Claire (smiling): Yeah.
Mommy: Crazy kid.
Claire: Nothing.
Alex: Claire? We didn’t do anything in the car? We didn’t do anything?
Claire (smiling): No, nothing.
Alex (tickling Claire): Yes we did, do some things. Silly Claire! I wanna hold hands. And give hugs.
(Alex and Claire start playing the holding hands game.)

(The following remarks were made while washing hands before nap.)

Claire: Big bubbles, Mommy! Big bubbles!

Claire: Big bubbles, Mommy! Big bubbles!

Claire: Big bubbles, Mommy! Big bubbles!

Claire: Big bubbles, Mommy! Big bubbles!

(Snack time. Alex and Claire are eating dried banana slices, and notice that their shapes resemble other things.)

Alex: I have a circle; and a moon.
Mommy: That’s right!
Alex: The sun’s like a circle, and the moon’s like… a boat.

Claire: Sort of a moon!

Claire: Truck! Truck.
Daddy: Is that one a truck?
Claire: Yeah a truck.
Alex: These ones are cars! These ones are cars! These ones are cars!
Daddy: Are those cars?
Alex: Yeah.
Alex: Mouse! This one’s a mouse!
Daddy: Yeah.
Claire: Mouse! There go. There go. There go.
Daddy: Yeah!
Claire: Ladybug, Daddy, ladybug!
Daddy: Ladybug, neat!
Alex: A moon! What does this look like? What does this look like? What does this look like, Daddy?
Daddy: What does it look like?
Alex: It looks like a tool that you can snap with. It looks like ears now! It’s a head.
Claire: Bug – bug! Bug, Daddy.
Daddy: Yeah it is a bug!
Claire: Bug.
Alex: Look this looks like a elephant with a trunk.
Claire: Bug! Bug, Daddy! Bug. Ay-yah, bug. Bug. Daddy, bug.
Daddy: Yeah, bug!
Claire: Ah.
Claire: Car! Choo-choo train.
Alex: I got a whole lot of Cheerios in my mouth!
Claire: Choo-choo train.
Daddy: Yeah.
Alex (referring to Claire’s dried banana slice): It looks like a plane, Daddy.
Claire: Choo-choo train! Choo-choo train. Choo-choo train.
Alex (to Claire): Go back to the choo-choo trains that we saw yesterday?
Claire: Yeah.
Alex (to Daddy): Can we go back to the choo-choo trains?
Daddy: Um, not today.
Alex: Not today, Claire. Tomorrow we can go see them. Right, Daddy?
Daddy: Not tomorrow either. But sometime soon.
Alex: Okay. Sometime, Claire.
Claire: Airplane!

Daddy: Hey Alex, tell Mommy about the car we saw today.
Alex: The funny car. It didn't have doors, it didn't have a roof, it didn't have windows, it didn't have um... It didn't have um... It didn’t have um… It didn’t have um… It didn’t have um… It didn’t have um… It didn't have... That's all it didn't have.

(dinner time)

Alex: Hey Mommy, I thought at the park yesterday we could take our lunch there, and eat it, at the picnic tables, they have picnic tables!

Mommy: That’s a good idea, Alex, we can do that one day, have a picnic.
Alex: On Wednesday.

(Grommie comes into the bathroom while Alex is getting ready for bed.)
Alex: Dogs shouldn't be in the bathroom.
Daddy: That’s right, that’s silly.
Alex: Dogs don't take baths.
Daddy: No, they don't.
Alex: They take baths when they roll in poop.
