Your toast.

(dinner time)

Alex: After dinner, can we um listen to music?
Daddy: Um… yeah for a little bit, okay?
Alex: Okay.

Claire (eating): Like it.

Alex: Mommy, can you tell me your story? About the squirrel and the elephant?
Mommy: Maybe Daddy can tell it.
Daddy: What happens to the squirrel and the elephant?
Alex: They went for a walk. And went to the ocean.

Alex: How ‘bout tell another story, about the daddy and the two daddies – no, um the mommy and the Alex ran into the grandma. Camel.
Daddy: They ran into the grandma?
Mommy: Camel.
Alex: Camel.
Daddy: Oh.

Claire: Chicken! Chicken!

Claire: Daddy, uh more, sauce.
Claire: Uh more sauce! Uh more sauce. Uh more sauce! Daddy?
Mommy: Here. You have sauce, honey. Dip it in that sauce.
Claire: Hot.
Mommy: It’s a little bit hot. Blow on it.

Claire: All done.
Daddy: You’re all done?
Claire: No.

(getting ready for bed)

Alex: Can we do superheroes?
Daddy: Um, I don’t know, maybe.
Alex: You can read the clock. And see what it says.

(Daddy takes his shirt off.)
Alex (reaching out to touch Daddy’s nipple): Can I touch this?
Daddy: Yeah.
Alex (as he touches the other one too): These.
Alex: They’re my best –
(Alex notices Daddy’s tummy.)
Alex: Can I talk to Big Tummy?
Daddy: Um, Big Tummy’s sleeping right now.
Claire (in a deep voice, as she grabs Daddy’s tummy): Your toast.

(Daddy is singing the tune to Downtown, but without using the words.)
Claire: Downtown.
(Daddy and Claire laugh.)

(Claire takes Alex’s travel clock, which is about the size of a camera, and “takes pictures” with it.)
Claire: Cheese. Cheese.
Daddy: Cheese!
(Claire laughs and runs off.)
(Claire comes back.)
Claire: Cheese. Say cheese.
Daddy: Cheese!
(Claire laughs.)

(Claire puts the clock back in its spot.)
Claire: Picture. Back.
